This course is based on early childhood developmental theories with emphasis on how early childhood educators can gain a better understanding of young children in a classroom setting. Participants will learn strategies for observing children; how to collect, interpret and apply data to set baseline and formulate individualize child focused curriculum. This course teaches COMAR supervision requirements, common compliance mistakes in safety management practices relating to illness prevention including practices and procedures for sanitation. Participants will understand discover a wide-range of common hazards including visible and hidden dangers that can potentially harm children and their providers and trigger non-compliance citations. Using the BAS as a guide, participants learn a systematic process for collecting data about their programs and how that information can be turned into an action plan for program improvement."
